Acupuncture is not at present a regulated profession which means that anyone can practice with little or no training.
In 2010 Acupuncturists will be statutorily regulated and anyone calling themselves an Acupuncturist or professing to practice Acupuncture will be obliged to conform with the standards laid down by the regulators.
Any member of the British Acupuncture Council is committed to providing the same strict levels of care and safeguards to their patients that will be required once the regulations are in force.
A member of the British Acupuncture Council needs to comply with strict codes of practice and will have either undergone a 3 year training course at undergraduate degree level or have proven competency that meets the British Acupuncture Council standards. As a member of the British Acupuncture Council my practice complies with their codes of professional conduct and practice guidlines.
